Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs/State Secretary Grigory Karasin met US Assistant Secretary of State Robert Blake on September 2.

During their conversation they discussed the general situation in Central Asia, particularly with regard for the impact of the Afghan factor on it. Special attention was paid to the developments in Kyrgyzstan. Robert Blake was thoroughly informed about the efforts being made by Russia toward normalizing the situation in the country, including the provision of necessary humanitarian aid to it. The parties agreed to continue the exchange of views on these issues.
