Russian President Vladimir Putin Sends Telegram of Condolences to Kim Chong-il, Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a telegram of condolences to Kim Chong-il, Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Following is the text of the telegram:

"Esteemed Chairman Kim Chong-il,

"It is with sadness that I learned news of a major disaster at the railway station in Ryongcho entailing numerous casualties and considerable damage. We share the grief of the families of the dead and of the entire friendly people of the DPRK.

"Please convey my deeply-felt condolences to the kith and kin of the victims of this tragedy and sincere sympathy for all those who suffered as a result of the disaster."

As has been reported, the Government of Russia is working over the practical questions of urgent relief to the DPRK through the Emergency Situations Ministry.
